Quotes from Terri Dean

March 2003

"it's enough to turn any woman's head and its performance has you grinning like a Cheshire cat"

"...I like the droopy, smiley face and the rear light array is so very different. This is not a me-too car and if I had a pound for every person who pointed at it with wide-eyed approval I could give up playing Lotto"

"...Powering through twisty country lanes produced a huge grin and a 'wheeee' where all of the 220Nm sweet-torqued through the bends"

"…sticking like glue to the road…the ride quality is brilliant without any loss of feeling for the road underneath"

"....I could enthuse all day but words do not adequately convey the sense of exhilaration"

"The Census is a point-and-squirt affair that begs to be enjoyed. And, in case you hadn't noticed, I did."

Quotes from Graham Whyte December 2002

"rich in emotional dividend."

"...successive bursts of aural sex. The exhaust note alone is enough to cheer all but the resolutely dour, quite apart from the sharp turn-in and clam-like roadholding."

"outstandingly good driving position,"

"...the Census is just about as right as a man can get. Fast, safe, and an absolute delight to drive, it cannot fail to enthuse anyone with even the remotest aspiration to be considered a decent performance-car driver."

"I must concur with...Tiff Needell, when he told millions of TV viewers that "…you instantly fall for this car.""

Customer no.1 June 2002

“I read a review of the Census in December and I  was immediately captivated by the prospect of owning a truly unique British sports car with classic front engine / rear drive and outstanding performance.  My test drive was love at first sight!  The ability to have input into the final finish including a personal fitting was unusual and appealing.  Now I have received the car my confidence is repaid in spades.  The car is great to drive - quick responsive and exhilarating but also very comfortable and not as primitive as some other cars I looked at.  The only downside? I have had to get used to being constantly accosted at traffic lights and in car parks with envious drivers wanting to know more about the car!”

Test Reports - Prototype Cars

Total Sports Car February 2003 (Census R track version)

"I found it to have sublime handling…a meaner stance giving the whole package a more purposeful profile...has milestone levels of cornering ability and the harder I pushed, the better it became. Great stuff...must be added to your shortlist of ‘possibles’...I guarantee that you will be pleasantly gobsmacked."

Honest John October 2002 (two items)

"Interesting, ultra short specialist British sports car, just 12' long but with a longitudinally mounted 170PS Ford 2.5 litre Duratec V6, 51:49 weight distribution, roomy cockpit and 140mph capability. Hits 60 in 5.8 seconds and 100 in 15.2 seconds. Weighs just 970kg. Has much better ride comfort than an Elise, VX220, etc. Amazing space efficiency. Good looking. Quite an achievement for a fledgling car maker. Convertible and hardtop versions both available. Give yourself time to learn how to exploit the chassis."

"Impossibly short new British sportscar, about the size of a Daihatsu Copen, with a massive 2.5 litre Ford V6 stuffed under the bonnet. Roomy cabin. Decent 50:50 weight distribution. Much better ride than a TVR or Lotus. ...a clever good looker that deserves to succeed."

Pulling Power, quotes from Tris Payne, broadcast February 2002

"It means business"

"A real driver's car. You can throw it into corners. Dab the brakes and it stops. You can go through the 'box really quickly. It makes you feel confident and sounds fantastic"

"If this car was a fashion designer, it would be Vivien Westwood, quirky, unusual and very, very different."

"it's a great engine"

"something new, something fresh - just like this car"

"much more fun [than a Z3]...performance wise, go for the FBS"

Tris was also very impressed by the individual service we offer for colours, materials, pedal spacing, gear lever positioning, etc.
